then again.... maybe not......it;s a subject very poorly understood across these forums...
......yet frequently referenced for joke material and as an avenue for putdowns and insults......  16

it even gets used as a label by authors who know absolutely nothing about either the causes of the illness
or of it;s effects.. to describe something they see within their own religious circles that they either don;t
understand at all ...... or wish to demonize in some way........  63
i know of something we could probably argue about..... although there is always that possibility we could all be in agreement about it..... ... but it;s the shooting death of loreal tsingine by winslow arizona police around easter time earlier this year...... the police body cam video was just released and it has stirred up a firestorm of protests as it does not reflect the story that the police officers involved told in their reports.. .... and the officer involved had already failed multiple evaluations during training for showing an inability to handle that very same kind of situation involving a mentally ill or uncooperative person without resorting to unnecessary violence......... per reports he was passed from the academy and hired as a police officer above the objections of several training officers and instructors who evaluated him... .......

when this incident first happened navajo tribal leaders withheld opinions on it and encouraged people to wait and see what the investigations revealed.... but now that the video is out and no charges have been filed against the officers they are outraged...... .... the federal government is now reviewing and investigating the shooting.......

I can't find a video that actually shows the shooting. Just what happen right before the shots were fired. Some are saying she had a knife in her hand. I didn't see one.

Did they release the entire video?

I do believe police are entirely too quick to discharge their weapon. I have no problem with them pulling their weapon quickly. It should be seen as a deterrent. At least in my eyes it is.

From what I saw, he could have wounded her if she had a knife. If she didn't have a knife, then he was down right stupid. He could have backed away faster. He had backup. Hard to tell without the entire video.

Thanks!
they say they haven;t released the part of the video that contains the actual
shooting..... but a few videos contain the audio portion of the aftermath where
you can hear the officer breathing heavily like he just ran a marathon and
repeating over and over that she came at him with a pair of scissors.... ......

you can see the scissors in her hand at the 23 to 24 second mark of this video
but what it shows looks like a short pair of blunt tipped bandage removal scissors.....
not the kind that could actually stab or cut anyone.... in fact they are made to be safe so
as not to cut anyone while removing bandages........ ... but just the manner in which the
officer confronts the woman... (which looks more like he is trying to steal her jacket
or start a fight with her than actually get her under control and make an arrest).. is
bad enough.... and the he fired his weapon with a fellow officer in the line of fire..... .

but if all she was carrying was a pair of blunt tipped medical scissors then this officer
should be charged with murder...... ...... most people couldn;t hurt themselves with a pair
scissors of that design if they tried......

i know a lot of people (especially on other forums) will automatically side with
the officer and say a weapon is a weapon and she should not have resisted arrest......
. but i know people who have been in the same position as that  officer was many times....
facing stronger people with much more dangerous weapons and they still managed to
control the scene and the situation without killing someone..... and as for myself i have
actually been in the same position before that the woman was in when the officer shot her...

....when i saw that video the first thing i thought of was it could have been me.... and on
more than one occasion...... i am just thankful the people who responding then were better
 trained than this officer was.......

I agree that the officer made a dumb mistake. Some people just can't handle stressful situation. Looks like this guy should have never been on the police force.

I have a brother that is epileptic and has difficulty dealing with stressful situations. I've seen him get treated very badly by police because of his condition. Some are very good. Some are very BAD. They don't care. They really don't. They will hurt you in a heartbeat. I watched a group of cops put my brother in full shackles and drag him to a vehicle and throw him in while he was dangling from the shackles. Its amazing he wasn't hurt worse than what he was. Some of them just don't care. They consider you a criminal and as soon shoot you as look at you. I know such cops exist. I've meet them before. They can NEVER do anything wrong.

I don't believe most of these types of situations are racial. Some certainly are, but most are just dumb cops. There are a few. I wholeheartedly support police and I don't believe most honest cops would have stood up for this cops. Cops make a mistake with a weapon and its murder. There is a great responsibility being a officer. One of those is knowing when to shot and when not to shot. If people can't handle it, they shouldn't join. Leave it to someone else. Some people join the "force" for the wrong reason. They just like bossing people around...
