this past wednesday a platform committee in texas voted to put the
question of texas secession from the union on a ballot at this weeks
 republican convention.......

how do you feel about that?.......  and specifically... how do you forum
members who live in texas feel about it?........ .... i am very close to
someone who was born and raised in texas...and i know how he feels
about it...... he says the idea has been kicked around in texas for decades.....

... but is there is any chance it could actually happen?....25

could a future united states flag go back to having 49 stars?.... .....  54
I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm split (no pun intended). Part of me thinks it's a great idea. Part of me thinks it's not. But I don't think it will ever happen, anyway.
Texas made a fortune building the Savings and Loan Crisis, and then made another fortune when the US had to pour money into the state to bail them out. If they go, I want America to get its money back first.
Just two quick points. Vincent you have it just backward. Texas has consistently sent more money to Washington DC than it has received from DC.

Secondly, it matters not if the Texas legislature or the people themselves vote to secede. According to Texas v. White (74 U.S. 700, 1869) not only would the Texas Legislature have to vote to secede, but also required "the consent of the states." That phrase has been interpreted to mean either the approval of every other state's legislature for Texas to secede or, more likely, the approval of the US Congress.

And that ain't gonna happen.
I was arguing with a Muslim friend of mine about guns..... and this subject came up.

I honestly believe.....that if there is any single issue that might prompt states to start to secede from the US.....

It would be the confiscation of guns....
If there is confiscation of guns, there won't be secession, there will be a revolution.
