Christmas is almost here....but.... - BrotherTony - 12-07-2021 I've got some "Christians" telling me that I shouldn't be celebrating Christmas because it's based on pagan symbols and imagery! My parents had a pastor like this back in the 90's just before my father died, and that pastor was a jerk. He refused to say "Merry Christmas," or even sing Christmas carols. The people in his church seemed to follow, to some degree, his idiocy...except for my parents and a couple of other families, whom he constantly chastised for holding the beliefs they held. I was thankful that after my father passed away in 2000 from cancer, that my mother departed this dictator pastors grip. With all of that said, I'd like to wish my brothers and sisters here on the FFF a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2022! BT RE: Christmas is almost here....but.... - aleshanee - 12-07-2021 thank you bro tony... . and a merry christmas in return...... ..... christmas belongs to christians.... it always has... ....pagans are always trying to hijack christian holidays and corrupt or claim them as their own..... .they even hijacked and have tried to corrupt the rainbow... the very symbol of Gods covenant with noah....... ....but i have long said we should be taking all those things back... ....every symbol.... every day set aside to commemorate a great event and even those observed casually to honor a christian saint or martyr.... ...christians started these observances... and we are retreating in the face of evil when we allow them to take them over......... I agree on taking back our holidays and symbols. I have some old schoolmates from Christian school that have come out as gay/lesbian. One is now married to her "wife." I never thought this lady would turn out to be a lesbian...I dated her once or twice during high school, and she was different from other girls in our school and our class. I also have a cousin who is a lesbian. It's something that both we all have discussed...they all claim to be Christians, but they show no signs of it. Yet, they celebrate the birth of Christ, denying him in their actions. Christmas has been hard for me for many years...since I was 18 years old and my parents nearly split up. That was my first year in Bible college. My father has just moved out after Thanksgiving and moved in with his girlfriend. He came back home around Christmas, but disappeared after the first of the year and was found living with this woman (my age) in a different state. During our time together Christmas day that year, he received a phone call from his girlfriend saying her car wouldn't start, and my father made me go with him to help get the car started or moved. When we got there, it was very awkward, and it seemed like they were doing it to taunt me. I was angry and walked all the way home from the place where the car had broken down. I didn't speak to my dad for over six months, though I worked outside in our detached garage with a friend of ours doing autobody work. When he came in, I'd leave out the door. It was a very hard Christmas for my family, and the younger kids to some degree blamed me for this breakdown in my fathers moral standing. They didn't know things like this had been going on for years, and that I had caught him one time when I was only 16. It affected me then, and though I eventually forgave my dad and got along fine with him, and even had him as the best man at my wedding, it always kept Christmas a very hard holiday for me to deal with. RE: Christmas is almost here....but.... - aleshanee - 12-07-2021 i don;t know why people do those kinds of things.... especially to family... and especially around christmas.... ..but it seems that;s when the worst things usually happen.... ...i can see how it would make you not want to even observe it.... .....for me christmas was one of the few times i actually enjoyed life as a very young child.... ...forgot everything that was wrong... even though most of it was still happening.... and was able to make myself believe everything was right with the world...... ....that might have something to do with what teacher told me the first year i started school.... ...that was right around the time they were pulling me out of the indigo program and putting back into a regular class..... they had no idea what was going on when i wasn;t in school and why all my grades and ability to focus had changed..... ....it was still about 3 years before a friend who invited me to ride the church bus with her to sunday school led me to Christ on that very same bus... ..but for some reason i still believed in christmas even before that..... ....but it could have easily been destroyed by just a few wrong words or actions on my moms part and i know that.... can see it now.... but i think she always enjoyed christmas too regardless and inspite of all the other criminal and evil things she was doing.... ..i know my navajo grandmother loved it.... one of the few memories i have of her was visting her on the reservation in arizona during christmas..... i would love to see christians return to observing christmas the way it the should be done.... ...but in truth i;m not entirely sure what that would look like.... .... i attended the christmas eve services in the lutheran church and also catholic.... ...but thats probably not it either... gotta wait and see if they are even going to have it this year.... or if they will jump off the boat again and do a lock down like fauci and biden are suggesting....... a true pair of grinches if there ever was any... . RE: Christmas is almost here....but.... - BrotherTony - 12-07-2021 I know my wife's family didn't really celebrate Christmas. My wife's father was an alcoholic who wasn't aware half of the time what was going on, and who really didn't care. Her mother was basically mother and father, and she would have to practically run roughshod over my FIL to get his paycheck every Friday before he drank it up. It was hard on my wife and her two sisters. When we had our foster kids, we had good Christmasses. The kids enjoyed themselves, and my wife and I enjoyed having them in the house. It was on Dec 15, 1998 that a liberal judge here gave the two boys we were trying to adopt back to their mother who had abandoned them, leaving them with their drunken father, who had allowed their crippled sister on a feeding tube to be raped by a neighbor. She had run off to Florida, and a Florida judge gave her custody in FL for the boys, but she had to come petition in Tennessee. The first Tennessee judge, who was voted out of office and replaced just two days before he made this ruling to give them back, gave them back because "it's Christmas, and we need to forgive." These boys loved their mother, yes...but, they were terrified of her. She didn't love them...she loved the money she'd get from the state for them. They were back in foster care in Florida after just two months. We miss our sons, and only have occasional contact with the oldest of the two. We have four grandkids we've never seen. Maybe someday the boys will come back to us to visit. RE: Christmas is almost here....but.... - aleshanee - 12-07-2021 i;ll be praying for you to have an awesome christmas this year... while sometimes the worst things happen around christmas.. it;s also the time distant and estranged family members decide to make contact again... ....i;ll pray God moves your sons in that direction... . ..and no matter how unwisely they have acted.... i truly believe that in time... children who have been shown love and the right ways, will come to their senses one day and make the right choices.... they may have to grow up first... but they will..... .....scripture says train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it.... but it says nothing about what that child might do in the mean time....between the training and the time he reaches that age of older wisdom.... ..i had to grow old overnight at 21.... but i made a horrible mistake that almost did me in before i got there... ... .... ..but anyway... i will be praying for you and your family.... and i pray this will be an awesome christmas for all of you... God bless you my friend... .. .. RE: Christmas is almost here....but.... - admin - 12-11-2021 Merry Christmas. I absolutely love Christmas. I can celebrate the birth of Christ and ignore what Santa Claus has become.... and what this secular sees in the holidays. I can also celebrate family and friends and the joy of loving one another. Which I could never do properly without the Spirit of God given freely to us in this life. As long as we give our Lord Jesus Christ the Glory for His Grace and wonderful gifts that can't be bought, we can enjoy the "season".. To God be the Glory, Great things He has done! |
