Discipleship

I've heard it time and time again... Discipleship.... Discipleship..... Discipleship.
However, there are key problems in what these people say about "Discipleship".
First, let me say that it is almost impossible to get a pastor, teacher or "Church" leader's nose out of their own circumstances long enough to get them to see the truth about "Discipleship". In other words, they ALWAYS judge the truth based on their own experience.
When they say "Discipleship"...... they ONLY focus in making others follow themselves. Its true. They'll even abuse the Scriptures in an attempt to justify their focus. They want others to follow them. They can't be happy unless people follow them. They just can't. Everything they teach is centered around their own perspective of "discipleship".
Discipleship is not about anyone but Jesus. When Jesus sent forth His followers to make disciples of men. He didn't want future disciples to be followers of men of their "trainers." He wanted the trainers to point their student to Him/Jesus.
Let me let you in on a little secret.....
When God gift His own with the Holy Spirit, you received your "compass" for discernment. Yes. I said it. The Holy Spirit is your compass. Not the pastor. Not the teacher. Not the leader. The Holy Spirit is your compass. Notice, I didn't say the "Bible" is you compass. Its not. Not even the Bible is your compass.
Your compass for truth is the Holy Spirit. The very nature of God manifest in your very being.
You don't have to listen to any leader, pastor, teacher or whatever..... when they are not telling you the truth. You don't. There is no authority that exist that supersedes the truth of the revelation of God in the Holy Spirit. NONE!
Most protestant get scared when you start talking about the work of the Holy Spirit. They do. There is reason for this. We are conditions from the very onset of our lives to judge things by things we can see. Things we can handle with our own fleshly hands. Things we can touch. Things we can physically dissect to understand its workings.
We can't do this with the Holy Spirit. We can't. Its impossible. In fact, learning from the Holy Spirit is both easy and difficult at the same time. Its easy in the fact it is part of our divine nature. Our new birth in Christ. Its difficult in the fact that we've given our entire lives to understand things the wrong way. Through touch. Through physical limitations. Its often so new..... that it scares us.
There in is the problem. We substitute things around us for the truth the Holy Spirit wants to teach us. Tangle things we can touch and handle. Things familiar and comforting to our flesh. That often the reason we tolerate one lie for another lie. It really doesn't bother most church people to hear their pastor tell a lie. It doesn't. Its familiar. Everyone does it.
However, lie after lie.... after lie.... leads to a place where truth can't not flourish. Its like laying a rose in the middle of a sewer pond. Yes. It stands out, people may notice.... but they ultimately don't care.
You may ask, where does the "Bible" fit into this picture. Well. Its simple. Lets call it "magnetic north". If you've ever used a compass before, you should now the difference between magnetic north and true north. If you don't, I recommend you do some research on the differences.
The "Bible" will get you close to "true north" but it won't get you all the way there. You must discern what the Bible says. You must understand it BEYOND what it literally says. No. I'm not talking about mystic revelation. I'm talking about understand those things that go beyond words.
Words only get you so far in anything. Words.... ultimately bloom into wondrously beautiful Truth that is part of our very divine nature. There are many people that have the "words" of the Bible. They can quote them. They teach them. However, its never become part of their very being.
There is a reason that John the Beloved wrote these words....
1Jn 2:27 But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.
All the endless Truth of God lives within us. Its part of us. This is Discipleship. Not the flimsy fake replica modern religion has passed on to man.
