the Douglas DC-3 and C-47 Dakota
in the mid 1980s there were still over 1000 DC-3s flying - delivering cargo into remote
parts of the world and even carrying passengers into those places where bigger planes
and jets could not land or access..... .. not quite so many of them flying now.... but several
old airframes - still in good condition - are being refurbished and some even fitted with
new engines so they can continue flying.....
..
.. the DC-3 Dakota was one of the toughest and most versatile aircraft ever invented
.... and as the C-47 it became a truly amazing aerial veteran of WW2.. korea....
abd even in vietnam as the "spooky" gunship... ..... ..
