You hear it all the time. The "Scriptures" are ENOUGH for anyone.
Well. I have a few questions and observations for those that believe this.....
1. Why give humanity the Spirit of God if the "Scriptures" are enough?
I don't care who you are. You can just about find a Scripture, somewhere, that will justify your own actions. In fact, there are plenty of examples of contradictory actions taken by equally Godly people under similar circumstances.
For example,
Under the exact same circumstances.......there is time to remain silent, yet there is a time to cry aloud. There is a time to cry and there is time to stop crying. There's a time for patience and a time for swift action.
Without the Spirit of God, you can NOT know WHEN.... to be either. When is often as important as how or why..... Sometimes, its more important.
2. Sometimes, Words are just not enough. I know you might think that's a little "over the top" but its true.
I know the Word of God is different. However, what good is the word "peace" of you don't LITERALLY experience it?
What good are the Words...... "peace of God" if you can't feel it? -

Good points.
The Scriptures do tell us everything we need to know, including the fact that the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth, and that we need virtues like wisdom, discernment, etc., to know what to do in a specific situation. -

That it does. Yet its a rather broad declaration. The "specifics" are found in learning to "listen" to the Spirit of God.... He gives to His own. -

Without the Holy Spirit, the scriptures would be meaningless to us. -

without the guidance of the Holy Spirit man begins using the scriptures for his own purposes..... sometimes deliberately in an active effort to exert power over others.. ...searching the bible for pieces of scripture they can use like weapons..... ... and sometimes a christian can do it ignorantly for his own purposes..... erroneously believing he is doing something for the glory of God when in truth he is only trying to glorify himself.... desiring to show the rest of the world what a great christian he is.. or how smart he is... .. ....it;s an easy trap to fall into.... especially when christians become enthusiastic about something and get carried away..... .... too often people wish to teach others and search the scriptures for words that back their cause when in reality it;s them that needs to be taught...... ...there might be a kind of cathartic satisfaction derived from using the scriptures that way.... but it does not bring any real peace...... peace comes only through study of the scriptures in the spirit of humility and accompanied by prayer.... letting God speak to us....... rather than looking for what we want Him to say to others.... -

Do any of you think people often make mistakes trying to do things like "David" did. Or like Solomon did.....
We're not David. We're not Solomon. We're not kings. We're not Elijah or any of the apostles.
I know people want to be that way because they read about in the Scripture. People even write songs based on their lives and claim "God is no respecter of persons". What He's done for others, He'll do for you!!!
Well. That's often just not true. Not everyone gets to be a King. Not everyone gets to be an apostle or prophet. Not everyone gets to be something "important" in some group's eyes.
Sometimes, God just wants us to be good fathers and mothers. Sometimes, God just wants us to "pawns" in the "Chess Game" we call life.
God may not want us to amount to anything worth rejoicing over in this life....
Oh, but that doesn't change the fact He sure does love us just the same.
