Calvinism helps give "blessed assurance" to the saved

I read a recent comment on a friends facebook page and really couldn't believe the comment. I'm not going to share the exact comment but suffice it to say the person in question was very grateful that Calvinism had given him an answer that he couldn't find anywhere else.
"Blessed Assurance".... Calvinism is mine.
I wouldn't have known it....
Without Calvin's mind
Born of theology
of glory divine.....
I'm not trying to really mock Calvinism but.... in a way I can't help myself sometimes.
Does it really comfort Calvinists to just blindly throw God providence into the air and somehow hope they are part of the elect?
I mean.... just what is it about the Calvinist doctrine of "providence" that makes someone feel okay with possibly being a "fake" foreordain from the "foundation of the world"?
Just how does a Calvinist tell that he isn't a fake? A tare.... if you would? A tare relying on God's providence that will never actually help him be anything more than what he is?
