well...... we just had our first monthly test of the nulcear attack warning siren tones at 11;45 this morning...... ....it wasn;t much different than the tsunami warning siren tones.... same system... just a single long mono-tone wail instead of an up and down wail like a traditional tsunami siren.... which is much like an ambulance siren... ... and as usual - by reason of being a long way from where the closest siren is stationed - i could just barely hear it....... ... in fact... the only reason i heard it at all is because i knew the test was coming up at 11;45 am and i turned everything off in the house so i could listen.... . ....if i had my stereo or the television on i would not have a heard a single thing.....
which i guess should be troubling.....
.... if i don;t hear it when and if the real thing happens, then i will have no way of knowing a nuclear missle is coming down on us and i;m about to be blown to smithereens.... .....either way i will be blown to smithereens.... ... but if i can;t hear it i will never know i am about to blown to smithereens.....

Hopefully it will never happen. I do believe the administration needs to depose the NK leader. The way NK treats its own people.... it just proves they will do ANYTHING to most anyone. -

in truth i think the whole nuclear attack siren thing is a waste of time..... ...along with this ridiculous official advice that if something happens.... "just shelter in place".... .. what is that supposed to mean?..... .. stay wherever you are and hope the missile doesn;t land on you?...... the old advice from the 1950s of ... "duck and cover" made a lot more sense..... ...but even that is useless advice if there nothing close by that provides cover..... ....and "cover" is a relative term depending entirely on the power and force of the threat coming against you...... but at least it gives the people that might be targeted something to do and encourages them to at least look for some kind of cover.......
cover and concealment are 2 different things.... and cover from gun fire can be whatever would stop the bullet.. but cover from a nuclear blast has to be thick and solid.... earth works. ..like in a cave or tunnel underground.... .. water.. ..like literally being under it.. and deep... not just sitting on it. .... and concrete... ...best option in a city... can all provide cover from nuclear radiation... ..i was taught years ago in the case of something like that to find a stairwell in the central part of a building that is built of thick concrete.... .or to where i can put as much concrete between and the outside air as possible.... and shelter there until it;s over....... ..
but all that aside..... the fact remains that hitting an island in the middle of the pacific with a ballistic missile fired from thousands of miles away is not as easy as mr kim jong wants the world to think..... it is not even that easy for the u.s. military to do and they have decades of experience and the targeting technology both of which north korea lacks..... .... without sattelites or sophisticated targeting hitting oahu with a missile from north korea would be like an archer shooting an arrow into the air in total darkness and making it land on a postage stamp a half mile away...... ....it;s just not possible with the current north korea that exists today.. .......
and.... i think mr kim jong knows that.... and all of this missile launching and posturing could be just theatrical diversions while north korea plans and executes another less sophisticated type of attack which would be possible..... such as a dirty bomb sneaked across the pacific and delivered through international shipping right into a major port or harbor..... ...that is the threat the u.s. and state officals need to be working to address and find a way to counter........ hopefully they are doing all that and in the mean time just blasting these sirens to mollify the general population that doesn;t know any better....... -

Hadn't thought about it that way.....
NK did launch a satellite into space but who knows what capabilities it has. In fact, I'd already taken the satellite out if it was me. Maybe even sink a NK sub or two. I suspect the next actions the US will take is to try and enforce a Naval blockade of NK. I think its going to happen sooner than later. -

true..... who knows what kind of capability the north korea sattelite has.... especially since china was allowed to steal so much of our technology during the last 3 administrations.... and it;s highly likely they could have given some of that technology to north korea..... . but as i understand it they still only have one... .... and it takes roughly 90 minutes for a single sattelite to make one complete orbit around the earth..... ..... to have the kind of any time any place targetting control from orbit that the united states has requires many highly capable sattelites in relay working together..... ...so for north korea to present that kind of threat some other country would have to give them use of their own sattelites..... which would put them firmly in support of a north korea attack on the united states and be nothing less than starting world war 3.... ......... but i agree...... if anything happens that constitutes north korea crossing the line then that sattelite should be among the first things targetted by our military...... ... ....who knows.... losing it might do nothing more than deprive jong kim of his half hour window of the cartoon network every 90 minutes...... but for some people that could be dramatically devastating.. ....

they say he has been reassigned to a job where he can do no harm.... .... but in my opinion the whole state nuclear attack warning system needs to be scrapped and turned over to the military or the federal government..... .... for decades we who live here have all known hawaiis politicians were a bunch of incompetent buffoons kept in power through rampant nepotism and ignorance on the part of the public.... ......but now.. after this... the whole world knows........ ..... the only thing more embarassing than the states mistake to people here with common sense.... was seeing the way the majority of the puplic who got the telephone warnings reacted...... and what is needed even more than a state alert system overhaul is a public education program to teach people the right things to do......
i was taught years ago that when the danger of a nuclear detonation exists the best thing to do is go to a place where you are surrounded on all sides by as much concrete or earth works as possible..... concrete and dirt will stop nuclear radiation and are also the best protection against a nuclear blast..... but during the 30 minutes that people were still thinking a nuclear attack was emminent most of them were either standing in the street with tears in their eyes staring into their iphones.... or racing down streets in their cars running red lights going who knows where......... ..all of them would have died in a most heineous fashion had even a small nuclear blast occured that people sheltered inside buildings would have survived..... and what was even more silly is that many of them ran out of buildings that would have provided excellent cover and protection in order to stand in the street and cry with their neighbors all of them staring into iphones wondering what to do...... ....
sorry..... i know i sound a little insensitve but i;m actually angry about it coz some of my room mates who were not home... and that should have known better... did the very same thing.... ....... but as for me i actually slept through the whole thing..... i found out about what had happened when i woke up 3 hours after it was all over..... ....the warnings sirens only sounded for a few minutes before being turned off.... .. had the threat been real they would have left on continually until the blast knocked them out...... and hopefully the continual siren blaring would have woken me up...... but even so, our walls are all thick concrete so staying right here at home where i already was anyway, would have been the best thing to do.. .. and it is what i have done........
i hope they all learn from this incident..... .. but if past history is any indicator the things they will claim to have learned will not the be things they needed to know...... ...but we will see......

hostile and unfriendly to users... maybe the zombie apocalyps already started

they have become useless so they might as well be zombies... avoid them...>

as the mainland news agencies continue to report on this story, more and more of us who live here in hawaii are realizing the true down side to what happened last saturday.....
.. of course it could also be an upside depending on how you look at it.... .... like i said in a previous post... while those of us who live here have known for many years that our state was run by a collection of idiots and half wits.... now the whole world knows....... .... oh well..... what can you do?..... hopefully a majority of voters will remember this come the next election.... but i won;t be holding my breath......
but in a new and unexpected development.... many people... even some who are democrats and were ardent supporters of our current governor are demanding that he resign from office.... ....of course one of those leading the charge and making those demands is the former governor (abercrombie).. who lost the last election to the current one.... ..... he sounds almost like hilary clinton and obama crying their sour grapes chorus about donald trump after losing the presidential election....... ... it seems those who thought the grace and courtesy george bush showed obama when dems retook the whitehouse in 2008, was going to set a new standard for other politicians to follow will be sorely disappointed...... this latest trend is all about refusing to step back even when the voters have told them to......
who knows when this fallout from the fake nuclear attack warning will end or how bad it will get....... .....but at least it;s better than real nuclear fallout ..... yet i wonder if the politicians and state workers being affected by it would agree...

well... now the report has come out on local news that our governor could have sent out an immediate official message canceling the false nuclear attack warning within a couple of minutes of it being broadcast.... ... except for one thing that got in his way....... .....
he forgot his password....
what is it with these democratic politicians.... passwords.... and their carelessness with computers?.... ..... democratic campaign big wheel podesta leaves his password to very important campaign emails as simply "password"..... then cries out russian conspiracy when somebody guesses it......hilary clinton not only stores highly classfied documents on a personal un-secured server but allows them to be transfered onto an aides laptop which was accessible to a creepy exhusband with a fetish for sharing pictures of his privates online with teenagers ..... ....and our own governor of hawaii... as if not to be out done..... forgets his own password and allows the biggest public panic since war of the worlds to take place for over half and hour .... all the while knowing it was due to a false alarm......
and these people all had concerns about donald trump being able to handle the nuclear codes?... .... .. ...... it;s astounding.... and also hilarious....
