I read Charles Krauthammer farewell letter and I was disappointed in his "lack of regrets"
He "lived the life" he wanted to live.
I honesty believe that you can ultimately judge the character of a human being by what they think of themselves.
Do you have any regrets?
I have too many to remember............ much less list.
A life without regret is a life unprepared to meet God. So said................ -

I saw that this morning, and was immediately reminded of what Paul said in 2nd Timothy.....

It would be easy to assume that Paul had an arrogant attitude about his death and no regrets - if we did not already know he had previously called himself the "Chief of Sinners" in 1st Timothy.
But i have always seen Paul as saying he was totally at peace in that paragraph, and though he didn't mention regrets he was nevertheless ready to meet God - and with being very certain of what his heavenly rewards were going to be thrown in for encouragement to the rest of us.
I don't know much about Charles Krauthammers' personal life, but i took his statement to mean he is also at peace about his death and has accepted it.
But then again his death may still be weeks, if not months away. The realization of it may not have fully set in yet... though at this time he may feel as if it has. Whether he is justifed or not in assuming a peace about his death is known only to him... and to God.
Not to be morbid or injurous to anyone grieving, but many people with terminal illnesses sign "Do Not Resuscitate Orders", and living wills, believing they too are at peace, and are ready to die. And they usually appear very resolute about it - until the moment actually comes, and their heart begins to miss beats, and their breath becomes short.
Then panic often sets in - and the truth often comes out.
I have seen it many times and it can be a terrible thing to witness. Much worse no doubt, to actually go through it - without the peace that only comes from knowing Christ. -

i was actually surprised charles krsuthammer was still alive....... after seeing how bad he looked the last time he was on fox news..... ... and then not seeing him for several montsh afterwards... ...i thought he had already died....
....... ... ... but i was not surprised to hear he made a statement declaring he had no regrets about his life.... .. his occupation as a political commentator means he was among those groups of people... (politicans and theologians included)... who are all about convincing other people of something they claim to believe themselves.... ..people like that regardless of how benevelant they might be in other ways, always come off as if they are firmly convinced they are right... ... whether they truly are or not.... .... i;ve seen them in action before .... .. and watched them go on and on with apparent great passion.. supporting something i knew for a fact they didn;t even believe in..... ... or seen them flip flop on their beliefs and positions spouting both opposing positions... at different times of course... firmly convinced they are always right and seldom exrpessing even the slightest regret for what they have said they believed in before.... even though what they are saying at present completely denounces it..... 
john mccain on the other hand seems to be an exception to that..... ...in the days since learning his condition was terminal he has been expressing regrets about tons of things... ...including his selection of sarah palin for running mate in 2008.....
....i could have told him back then he would regret that one day.... .. except i believed at the time he had done it deliberately to throw the election to obama.... .... some of the other things he has said he regrets, which in essence is telling us he wishes he had been a liberal democrat rather than conservative republican,... kinda confirms for me what i first suspected.... ..
i would love to see a politician or a news media personality retire some day, and say that he wishes had done something more honorable and constructive with his life....... wouldn;t that be a death bed confession to remember..... ...
but to answer your question in the op.... ... yes .....i have many regrets... ...and like you say they are too many to list or even rmember.... .... but if i could go back and change some of those things... and redo some things differently.... .would things today have turned out better?.... or would they have turned out worse?.... ....i don;t know.... ...all i can do is leave it all in the hands of God.... and pray..... -

I can see your point but I believe Paul's life lined up with what he claimed. Even so, I believe his rhetoric is measured and exacting. He even includes anyone who "that love his appearing".

I can see where its good not to be remorseful in "forgetting those things that are behind".... and "pressing forward", yet these are words for those with much left to accomplish.
I can take pleasure in being ready to meet God but I must admit that I am overwhelmed with the idea of meeting God so wholly lacking in equal accomplishments as Paul. I must avail of Grace. Appeal to mercy and acknowledge my regrets of having accomplished far less than my gifts afforded.

You're probably right. I know that Charles is not an atheist as he has mocked such beliefs in the past. I know that he's expressed interest in some form of Judaism. I'm fearful for him.
Society has no regard for God's good will and pleasure in their lives. A life lived not acknowledging God and recognizing our most desperate need for redemptive Grace isn't pleasing to God.

i think when the truth is known... .... and i think he will admit it eventually before he dies..... .. even charles krauthammer will acknowledge he does have regrets.... ..... all of us do...... and regardless of how pauls unique writing style sometimes made him come across.... i;m sure he had plenty of regrets too...... ....only a true sociopath could go through life and then have nothing to regret at the end - not be in the least bit ashamed of anything he did.......... ....krauthammer doesn;t come across to me as sociapath..... .. and i don;t believe paul was one either..... .......but i have known some sociapaths..... .. in fact i;m even related to a few.... .. the only regrets they ever seem to have are about wishing they could have been even nastier to people than they were.... .. i doubt any of them truly believe in God... ... so they think they have no reason to ready themselves to meet Him.... ... but they love to invoke God.... and use the pretense of belief in God as a tool in their schemes to control others.... ... ............... their day to regret will come when they find themselves answering to the God they never thought they would see...... but that will be a day too late..... .
