  Here are some of the comics that I had that I never would have known existed if it weren't for my uncle sending us tons of leftover comics.  Anyone ever heard of these?  These are just the odd ones I can remember; there were many more:
  
  Cosmo
  The Spirit
  Elastic Man
  Baby Huey (I hated that comic and the character)
  Nancy  (Yes, the same Nancy and Sluggo from the newspaper strip, but the comics were a TOTALLY different world -- IIRC, they used to go through the fireplace into an entirely different dimension)
  
  I'll try to remember others and post them later if I do.
  
  You've probably heard of all the rest.  There were like a dozen Archie spin-offs, so even if you didn't recognize the name of the comic, you'd instantly know it was an Archie friend.  And then there were all the DC and Marvel spin-offs you probably know about or wouldn't be surprised even if you didn't.  I'm mainly referring to the ones few people ever knew about.
  
  
  They actually made a movie based on "The Spirit".  It was a flop. Budget $60 million, and it barely made $20 million.

  It starred Samuel L. Jackson as "Octopus", but that wasn't his name in the original comic.  He was Zitzbath Zark.  There was also a woman named Myrtle Schmerz (perhaps a play on "mittelschmerz", pain during ovulation).  The original comic had a lot of humor, as I (barely) recall. 
  
  There might have been more than one Elastic Man, but the one I remember got his superpowers from swallowing his chewing gum too often. 
  
  Cosmo does NOT refer to the dog of the same name.  It might refer to this comic, but this connection to Archie comics doesn't ring a bell, and I'm pretty sure Cosmo didn't look anything like these guys.

  do you remember this one?........ i have never been a big fan of comics.... 
  but i remember this being in our house when i was little..... i have no idea
   where it came from... or what happened to it after i was taken away from
   there.... ... and even back then the pages were brittle and falling apart....

   think i saw it again after that..... finding it again now online is the first time i

  Wow, I've never seen that one, and I thought I've seen (almost) all from that period (you can tell it was '50s, '60s or thereabouts by the price).

  what;s sad is that it;s supposed to be really valuable today....... .... but i;m sure that;s only if it;s in mint condition....... and that one we had was already pretty ragged even in the late 1980s......  ..... oh well..... who could have known that a 15 cent comic book based on an obscure b rated movie would be worth a small fortune some day in the future........   .....
  
  and.... according to the ebay link i just posted as an edit... it;s worth about 32 dollars today in "good" condition.... ... i still wonder what one never opened or thumbed through would be worth.... .. but this turned out to not be as valuable as i thought it might be.... .. oh well....... ... ..
