What you see is what you get....

I know some people take pride in being "real". They often say things like you find in the thread subject....
"What you see is.... what you get..."
Problem is, the Scriptures paint a poor "view" of those who look only upon the outward appearance.
1Sa 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance, nor on his stature, for I have rejected him; for God sees not as man looks; for man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.
If all you ever see is what you get, then you're missing everything.
It is very difficult to see through the outward appearance to get to the very reality that come forth from the heart of men. Emotions can be faked. Tears often do NOT tell the "why" of an broken heart. Hollywood proved many years ago that even what sounds like "good preaching" can be faked.
So just how can we "see" the heart. There is really only one way to see the true heart of man. Jesus said these words....
Mat 12:34 You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
AS much as men try to cover up their filthy sinful hearts through pretense and lies..... Man just can't hide his heart from his voice. Humanity shows its heart through the words they speak. That is how we can know what is in the heart of man!
Also, we can know what drives the desires of mankind through the heart of men. Jesus said...
Luk_6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Luk_12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
The very statement "What you see is what you get..." Tells us exactly where the speaker falls within the words of Jesus. ( For out of his mouth comes the PURE Words of God!!)
This speakers treasure is right in front of him....
Mat_6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven....
1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
