apparently ...per news reports..... deering high school.... a public school in portland maine..... has started offering sports hijabs to muslim female students in an effort to encourage more of them to get involved in sports activities........ .....
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/maine-high-s...ts-hijabs/
and according to reports this school in portland maine is only the first of what may soon be hundreds of public schools across the nation doing the same thing..... i don;t know because i didn;t grow up in fundamentalists circles.... and was never really involved in high school sports either.... but for those of you who did grow up in fundamentalism... and who were involved in sports - - do any of you remember a public school offering to provide specific articles of clothing to a baptist or other fundamentalist christian girl, that would satisfy her beliefs on proper attire and allow her to participate in sports?.........
at the very least this seems like an unfair preference being shown by a public school to a certain sect of religion...... especially in a country where some public school students in various states were told they could not even bring a bible to school or wear a cross or crucifix that was visible outside their clothing.... ..... ...... but doesn;t this also violate what liberals and leftists have been saying all along about proper separation of church and state where public schools are concerned?.......
