I stumbled on a video Dr. Grady McMurtry, a former evolutionist, talking about evidence for a young earth. I never heard of this guy before last week - no idea if anyone here already knows about him. Anyway, he presents such powerful arguments and evidence for a young earth that I've reconsidered my view on it. I was open to an earth being anywhere from tens of thousand to millions/billions of years old (although I don't believe in evolution even if it's billions of years old). Now he's convinced me that it's roughly 6,000 years old. Let me tell you, that's quite a feat. I'm a difficult person to convince on this subject.
All his videos are fairly long, and they all have gems within them, so it's very difficult for me to pick just one to share. I settled on these two (Young Creation and Dino-Mania) simply because it's entertaining to watch him talk to a congregation with kids in it. But I listed 3 shorter videos below that are more informative, though less entertaining.
I've watched as much as 8-12 hours of this guy in just the past week. IMO, his information is that compelling.

thanks for posting those.. .... i am going to watch them in their entirety when i get the time.... .... i have actually never had a problem believing that the earth is young..... that an omnipotent God could do exactly what scripture says He did in the book of genesis.... and in a short period of time...... ... or that a cataclysmic event like the great flood could have altered the earth in a way that would make modern scientific research useful only as far back as the post flood period... ... but i have always found myself in the minority when discussions about the subject broke out.... .. even among other christians..... .... ..i;ll be looking forward to watching those later and hearing how he explains it all ..... .. -

One of the most amazing things he explains is how dinosaurs were on Noah's Ark, and that some have been around until 400 years ago (and some may still be around).
No matter how many times I've read Genesis, for some reason, a simple fact never sunk in. Every animal was a vegetarian (including dinosaurs) up until after the flood. That's when God turned animals (including man and dinosaurs) into meat eaters, and that's when animals received the instinct of fear. So people never had anything to worry about regarding the dinosaurs up until after the flood.
Now we discover that there's soft tissue in dinosaur bones, which means they can't possibly be millions of years old. He also gives solid evidence both from the fossil record and the Bible that men and dinosaurs lived at the same time.
I could go on and on, but you'll see it all in the videos. I'm just amazed at how this is all spelled out, and yet it all slipped by me for so long. -

There is this concept in "creation" that God created something from nothing. It is generally expressed in the Latin phrase "Ex nihilo". "out of nothing". Many creationists demand that grammatically, creation as expressed in the Scriptures, is "creatio ex nihilo" or Creation out of nothing!
Most of these types of arguments are overstated. Even man was created from dust. It can be said that "dust" in the context of a "human being" is nothing or death.
I haven't watched the videos yet but I can accept the idea that life as we know it is very young. However, I believe the materials of life are very old.
If you just think about the infinite nature of God, how can we possibly believe that God hasn't been creating things for a VERY long time. He creates and brings His creationS to nothing. -

i finally finished watching his videos... ...and i agree with most everything he teaches... ... in fact most of what he says are things i believed since i was young just never had a good "scientific" way to argue the points for the way he does... ..... i never believed the evolutionary stuff i was taught in school..... and i knew from reading outside the required books in school that scientists and researches frequently come across evidence... fossils and artifacts ... (like the bronze bell found in coal).....that contradict their hypothesis and evolutionary beliefs..... ..and they toss these things out with the trash as "anomalies".....and bury the finding in such a way that few people not devoted to evolution ever see it..... .... ...(kind of the same way churches under corrupt leadership hide all the dirty things the preacher is into....) ... ... ... it was easy to see that athiesm and belief in macro-evolution were every bit as much faith based religions as christianity..... (and subject to corruption by hypocrits).... .. ... with the exception that christian belief is based on truth and never changes.... evolutionary science is based on fallacy and changes constantly...... ..
but then.... .. when i became closer to other christians i was very dismayed to learn most of them believed the same things the evolutionists did...... ... i remember very clearly being made fun of in public high school for suggesting that the behemoth described in the bible could have been a dinosaur.. ... and that a possible leviathan was already on display in a museum as the megladon shark...... which scientists say died out before man existed.... .... it was an expected reaction and did not bother me.... .... but then i got the same reaction and ridicule for making the same suggestion on a older version of the fff... from christians....... and that did bother me.....
i don;t know if you remember but i had an argument a couple of years ago with someone... a professing christian... on the .org fff about the very same subject of darwinism and evolution....it had to do with hawaiian nene goose and how it was simply an adapted canadian goose descendant of a flock that got lost over the pacific and stranded in hawaii 1000 year ago... and not some seperate species "macro" evolved..... ... the discussion went nowhere ........ .. and in the end i told him...... "what you choose to believe and whether you decide to follow the bible or darwinism is up to you....... but the 2 are not compatible......".. .. .. he responded by telling me my statement was ignorant.... ....
so.... yes.... i am very happy to see someone highly educated in these sciences saying the same things i did.... ..... but i;m still not sure about the idea of men and animals being vegetarians until after the great flood... ... prior to the fall in the garden of eden they were without a doubt ..... .... but then abel was a shepherd and it has always been my understanding that his offering to God was a blood offering .... a sacrificed lamb from among his flock...... it brings up the question of - what would be the purpose of raising livestock in the first place if not for food?....... .... and scripture also teaches that the ground was cursed at that time.. against the efforts of man... from immediately after the fall until after the flood.... ...granted they still tried to farm... like cain did... and grow things with limited success.... and undoubtably were very good gatherers of what grew wild around them....but i believe some were also hunters... ...... maybe not among those keeping faith in God.... but possibly among the peoples who became wicked which God decided to destroy by flood..... they were desendants of cain afterall and like their father / grandfather would have had no problem killing.... .... and they knew what a bow was even before God put the first rainbow in the post deluge sky and desribed it as His "bow"....... the trouble is the bible doesn;t really say much about how those other people lived... except to say that they were wicked..... .... ..but anyway...... .very interesting ideas from dr mcmurtry ..... ...definitely gotta read more about it...... -

I like much of the video but there is one serious flaw in what he said about creationism and its relationship to sin.
The Scriptures declare that sin entered "the world" or "this world". Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world,
Sin didn't have its beginning in Adam. In fact, SINFUL Satan beguiled EVE. -

i was trying to find a good online sattelite image or map that showed the entire mississippi river delta system.... ... but unfortunately what i am trying to describe here is easier to see on a large paper image or detailed relief map..... ......but anyway.... ....geologists say evidence shows that the lower mississippi river changes it;s course and forges a new delta about every thousand years or so.... sometimes much less..... .. it has been on it;s present course much longer than 1000 years due to human intervention and the building of levies....... ....but if you carefully examine a detailed image of the louisianna gulf coast line.... ... you can clearly where the ancient river deltas were........ .and there are 6 of them..... ....including the current delta .........
so..... a river that changes it;s lower course every thousand years.... .. evidence of 6 deltas in the geologic record...... ....scientists who have been asked about this and questioned whether that might indicate a young earth have replied that ... "no....it;s only the 6 deltas that have existed since the last great cataclysmic event on earth....". ..... ........really?....
...... . i wonder what cataclysmic event that would have been?.......

the thing that first caught my attention about the ancient mississippi deltas ... was how the date scientists gave for the beginning of the oldest most ancient delta.... .4600 bp.. . (years before present time)..... so closely coincided with how long ago the bible says the great flood of noah occurred.... ..... these are totally secular scientists who buy into the billions of years old earth model..... they don;t even date things in terms of bc or ad.... like use to be the traditonal way..... ..... and yet their study of when the oldest of the mississppi deltas began flowing landed right on the time the bible says the earth was renewed and rain began falling on earth from the sky for the first time....... ..... (remember... according to genesis there was no rain on earth prior to the flood.....mist rose up from the ground at night and watered the earth....no great rivers existed.... genesis 2:5-6...)
i asked a friend and fellow college student that i began arguing all this with years ago, why no evidence of rivers older than 4600 bp could be found and said she thought the ice age with it;s massive glaciers, must have wiped out all evidence of those ancient rivers ..... but then i showed her that all the models of ice age maps that show where the global ice cap extended into north america, show the area now known as the american south.... .including all of present day louisianna.... was completely free of ice even in the most liberal models..... ...... so that idea just didn;t fly.....
she remains dedicated to darwin..... but we still talk about these kinds of things from time to time..... ..whenever i see her at starbucks...... .. i have reminded her recently of how much the evolutionary science she believes in has changed even in the short time we have known each other...... (16 years)... .... ..yet not only does the bible not change..... . but frequently scientists discover something that actually proves it......
