Where 2 agree on earth.....

Mat 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 18:19 is often one of the more abused verses in the NT. I don't know the times I've heard someone say....
"Agree with me" for such and such thing from God.
Well. It might come as a bit of a surprise to you, but Matthew 18:19 has nothing to do with such a thing. It doesn't. In fact, using this verse in such a manner is in direct contradiction to how Jesus taught us to pray.
Matthew 18:19 is about the administration of problems in the church. This context immediately preceding Matthew 18:19 deals with the disputes among those in Christ Jesus.
Mat 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
Mat 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Mat 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
Mat 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
It has NOTHING to do with agreeing on something you want in prayer and demanded God fulfill His word.....
Yet, that is exactly how people are misusing God's Word.
Matthew 18:19 actually reaches all the way back in the OT and is based on
Deu 19:15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
Matthew 18:19 extends this truth to include his disciples governing the church assembly that would be established at Pentecost.
Even then, they made mistakes. No one should be governed by a mistake.
