i;m truly very sorry about that...... regardless whoever he really was... i feel i was nice to him when he first showed up here.... and i gave him every benefit of the doubt..... .until he showed he was here for no other reason than to troll..... .i agree...... it;s very sad... ... ....... .... and if he really was the real ransom then i am very disappointed.... ... i defended ransom 2 years ago on the other forum when he said some annymous person attacked him on other venues claiming they were doing it on my behalf.... .. i posted a thread making it very clear ransom had never harassed me or any member of my family, and told them to stop whatever they were doing.... ... .. ...i am still not convinced this was the real ransom that showed up here......it could have been the same person who did all that 2 years ago just trying to stir up more trouble now ..... ..but if it was ransom then i was terribly wrong about him and stupid to have defended him.... .... but we will see.... ..... i have a feeling it;s not over yet..... ..... these kinds of disgruntled people with axes to grind and chips on their shoulders don;t give up easily..... ...someone should tell them they can put their efforts to better use..... ..... -

i totally agree with your thoughts in the o.p. .....too many christians.... specifically fundamentalists... have used proverbs 20;30 as a license to physically abuse their children in the name of discipline.... ... and some have used it as an excuse to take out their own frustrations on their children with physical abuse completely divorced from discipline.... ......in doing so they ignore all other parts of scripture that teach discipline combined with gentleness, nurture and mercy....... what;s worse, they miss the oportunity to set the proper example and teach the rest of the world about the virtue of proper christian discipline.. ......
the mantle of protecting children from abuse should have belonged to christians all along..... ...instead their abdication of it allowed the state and other parties in the secular world to pick up that mantle and wear it... and now it;s the state and secular world which are seen as both the protectors of children and the prosectors of those who abuse....... ..... and ironically..as a result..... members of the church, which should have been seen as a refuge for children from an abusive world, often finds itself the subject of investigation and the prosecuted party for committing that abuse......
another of the proverbs frequently abused and misued by christian fundamentalists is the first half proverbs 27;6 ....faithful are the wounds of a friend; .... i can;t tell you how many times i have seen christians pull that verse out and use it to justify treating another christian like garbage... or denying them basic kindness...... ....it;s the very reason the world coined the phrase about the christian army being the only army that shoots it;s wounded.....i believe that when christians pull that out to try and justify their abuse of a fellow christian they have unwittingly embodied the second half of proverbs 27;6.... .... but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.... by trying to claim their abuse was a kindness they are both deceiving themselves and also trying to deceive the victim of their abuse... for they have now ceased to be a friend and have become the enemy......
